Dont muck around trying to get it re-engineered, will probably cost double that. There's one here, they want £45 or an offer. Got this head with a barrel from ebay, don't know a lot about these things is it usable?can it be machined etc? Posted: 22:53 - Post subject: Re: Kmx 200 head Its only really cylinder re-plating that needs to be sent to a specific plating firm. If I was having engine work done again, I'd try to use a more local specialist though, maybe an MX tuner or engineering firm. But I needed a spare lump seeing as I'm going to split the original 200 engine I had to big bore my 125 with, and keep the engine number original etc.ĭon't have a problem with doing that, as I bet in the day a few 125cc owners fitted 200cc cylinders to their bikes while on L-plates, so it's a period modification.īDK have done alot of work on KMX's and they make the replacement KIPS parts too.

I had Dave help me out with searching for an engine or top end ladt year, and in the end I payed alot of cash for a damaged engine, it's complete but has damage to the LHS crankcase and sprocket cover mountings. Yeah your right about the cylinders being rare for KMX200's, complete engines are getting the same way too, not to the level of say MTX200's, but they will be in a few years. Might just have to suck it up as I think kmx200 barrels are like hens teeth. Think seller would take both back as he is saying that he has had offers of £150 for barrel and head. In a dilemma bought barrel and head for £100 off ebay.

Thanks Steve, have emailed James to see what can be done The tuned 200 head I got done at BDK has been skimmed, so I guess I'll find out if this is an issue or not when I come to fit it. I know that facing the head by say 2mm isn't going to massively reduce the coolant capacity, but KMX's run quite hot and only hold 1L of water so you wouldn't want to take much coolant capacity away.Īlso there is a head stay engine mount on the back of the head, and a serious skim would likely mean you would need to elongate the holes in the mounting brackets to get the bolt to go through. My concern was how deep is the step in the head? It looks like it could be 2mm or more from the pic?
